We love bloggers. Especially bloggers who love TeeFury, and Melissa of Melificent.com is one our favorites. You may remember her from our Mother’s Day Blog Post about being a geeky mom to her adorable daughter, Luna. In between blogging, cosplaying and being a stellar mom, Melissa found some time to sit down and talk with us about her taste in tees, favorite fandoms, artists and expressing yourself through your clothes.
TeeFury: What are some of your favorite fandoms?
Melificent: My fandom list is ever growing. We are so lucky to be living in a time of such quality entertainment, whether from comics to TV. However, my absolute favorites are Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Hannibal, Sailor Moon, LOST, Sherlock, and Star Wars. I’m a sucker for amazing storytelling and character development done right!
TF: Are there any fandoms that you would like to see more tees for?
M: I am a big Hannibal fan, and even though the show was prematurely canceled, I still think the Fannibal community (including myself) would love to see more amazing designs. Also, I’d love to see more smaller known, independent comic art, such as for The Wicked and The Divine, Zodiac Starforce and Saga.
TF: What design aesthetic or art style appeals most to you?
M: I love a good typographical design! Being married to a designer, I have learned to appreciate the art of type. Plus, typography tends to be a little more understated, which makes the design more wearable. You can style it to fit for an office setting just as easily as for a convention weekend.
TF: Do you have a favorite artist?
M: There are so many amazingly talented artists on TeeFury, so it is hard to choose. However, if I had to, it would have to be Karen Hallion, Nan Lawson or Danny Haas.
TF: What do you think about people connecting through apparel and the expression of their favorite fandoms?
M: I absolutely love the fact that there are so many options out there that you can now express any fandom through fashion! It’s definitely a conversation starter, no matter the setting, and sometimes can help individuals that struggle with social skills initiate and maintain conversations. I, personally, have created long term relationships with people all over the world just by finding them on Instagram wearing something from a mutual fandom. I also love that I can personally express my interests through fashion. Fandom and fashion have always been two of my favorite things, and the fact that now it is so accessible to meld the two is amazing! And the possibility that it can bring people together melts my heart.
It’s easy to see why we love her, isn’t it? Melificent has curated a collection of her favorite TeeFury tees and they are available on our site for $15 for a limited time.
