It’s a beautiful thing when something from your childhood becomes a part of your adult life. For me, that has very much been the case with The Last Unicorn. The cartoon was so obscure in my childhood that we could (in the dark days before Amazon) never find a copy to own on VHS. I’m pretty sure I came close to wearing out my local library’s copy. In 2012 IDW published a 6 issue comic version of The Last Unicorn and my love for Amalthea’s story was renewed. Until then, I had no idea The Last Unicorn was based off a book. If you haven’t read the book or the graphic novel I highly recommend you drop whatever you’re doing now and do so.
I was fortunate enough to have met Peter S. Beagle, the author of The Last Unicorn, a few times at Wonder*Con and Comic-Con. The most memorable occasion was watching the film alongside him and other fans at the 2013 Newport Beach Film Festival. I even decoupaged a pair of heels for the occasion.
Like many lifelong fans of The Last Unicorn, I hope one day in the not-to-distant future we’ll get to enjoy a live-action version of the story. Until then, I’m content sharing my fandom love through my wardrobe, with the help of The Last by MeganLara. I received an advanced copy of today’s Daily Tee to style. You can’t see them under the skirt, but it goes great with my shoes! And I’ve ordered it again in black and navy today because I just can’t get enough!
Nessa, Caitlin and I also celebrated our unicorn love with Quests are Magic by Chriswithata. Each of us has our own unique way of styling our tees; be sure and show us yours with #TeeFuryStyle!
